The objective of this project was to design a make-up bag, and I was enthusiastic about it for several reasons. Firstly, the cosmetics and make-up industry is a massive, lucrative market, making this a valuable insight and gateway project. During my research, I noticed that many people use multiple wash bags to store their cosmetics rather than specifically designed make-up bags, identifying a potential gap in the market to exploit. Additionally, I was excited by the prospect of creating a fashion-forward product, blending functionality with style to appeal to a broad audience.

The first key point in the ideation process was to determine the best way to utilise storage and organisation. I explored various ideas, such as smaller bags that could attach via velcro, stackable drawers forming a suitcase-like shape, and multiple exterior pockets. Ultimately, I decided on simple compartments and dividers, as this style resonated most with my target audience.
The design featured an interior made from vinyl material, making the bag easy to clean. With pastel colours trending in fashion, I chose them for the bag, along with additional smaller bags that clip onto an industrial strap, making it suitable for any environment. One feature I was particularly pleased with was the metal magnetic snap buckle, which centres and enhances the overall design.
